The premier league in Queensland is a two division semi-professional Australian rules competition,
Australian Football League Queensland State League (AFLQSL) operating out ofSouth East Queensland this was formerly known as Queensland State Football League or the QSL it was deemed too similar to the soccer abbreviations. The organisation also runs the multi-division amateurAFLQ State Association out ofSouth East Queensland . Other regional leagues include:

The Queensland Scorpions are the state representative side and include under 16s, under 18s and open age groups and compete at the National State Championships.
The Country Kookaburras represent the regional areas outside of South East Queensland, have under 14's , 16s, under 18s and open age groups and compete at the Australian Country Championships.
Due to the 2005 alignment with
AFL PNG , both sides can also include players fromPapua New Guinea .Location
The league's offices are currently based at Lions Football Park (also known as Giffin Park), Coorparoo, and this is where most finals matches have been played from 1998. However, the AFLQ State League Grand Final was once again played at the Gabba in 2005, marking the centenary of the first Grand Final played at the ground when City defeated Valley in 1905.
