Upper Murray Football League

The Upper Murray Football League is based in Northeastern Victoria and Southeastern New South Wales. The players in the UMFL comprise largely from Corryong and surrounding areas in North-East Victoria including Albury/Wodonga. The competition is played over fifteen rounds and fields Senior, Reserve, Under 16 and Under 13 sides. Clubs also field both Senior and Junior netball sides.

History

The "Upper Murray Football League" was formed in 1893. The competition has also previously been known as both the Upper Murray Football Association and the Corryong and District Football League, prior to 1937.

Clubs

Current Clubs

*Border Walwa-The Magpies joined the league in 1965 as a result of a merger between Walwa and Border United. They have since won 7 flags with the most recent in 1998.
*Bullioh-Joined the Upper Murray in 2000 as a reformed club that originally merged with Tallangatta in the TDFL to form Tallangatta Valley F.C. Have proven to be very successful since joining the league winning two premierships in 2004 and 2008.
*Corryong-Share a fierce rivalry with cross town club Federal and have proven to be the competition's strongest club with 31 premierships the last coming in 2005.
*Cudgewa-Come from a small township outside of Corryong,despite such a small population have won 18 flags, the most recent being back to back premiers in 1999 and 2000.
*Federal-The Swans were originally known as the Mt. Elliot F.C. but changed their name in 1901 (the year of Federation), a very successful club their most recent success was back to back flags in 2006 and 2007.
*Tumbarumba-Joined the competition in 1975 and have so far had no September success last making a Grand Final in 1998. Located in a Rugby League dominant township the Kangaroos have dominated junior ranks in recent years and hope for senior success in the near future.
