The New Jersey Scenic Byways system consists of roads in the U.S. state of New Jersey that have been recognized for their historical or natural qualities.[1]
List of byways
There are currently seven scenic byways in the state of New Jersey:
- Bayshore Heritage Byway – Runs along the Delaware River and Delaware Bay in Salem, Cumberland, and Cape May counties.[2]
- Delaware River Scenic Byway – Follows Route 29 along the Delaware River between Trenton and Frenchtown. This byway is also part of the national program.[3][4]
- Millstone Valley Byway – Follows the Delaware and Raritan Canal along the Millstone River between Kingston and Hillsborough. This byway is also part of the national program. [5][6]
- Palisades Interstate Parkway Scenic Byway – Follows the Palisades Interstate Parkway, running along the New Jersey Palisades on Hudson River in Bergen County.[7]
- Pine Barrens Byway – Three routes that run through the Pine Barrens in southern New Jersey.[8]
- Route 57 Byway – Follows Route 57 through mountain and valley areas between Greenwich Township, Warren County and Hackettstown.[9]
- Upper Freehold Historic Farmland Byway – Runs through areas of farmland between Allentown and Walnford Mill.[10]
