Nova 100 Broadcast area Melbourne, Australia Slogan Live Life Nova Frequency 100.3 MHz FM First air date 3 December 2001 Format Top 40 (CHR) ERP 56 kw Callsign meaning 3-Victoria MEL-Melbourne Owner DMG Radio Australia Website www.nova100.com.au Nova 100 (call sign: 3MEL) is a commercial radio station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, broadcasting on 100.3 MHz. It is in the Melbourne radio market, with the intention of challenging the number one FM Austereo station Fox FM by playing alternative, hip hop, pop & dance music, with a strong lean towards new music. However in recent years it has failed to offer much competition, failing to come close to Fox FM in the ACNielsen ratings.
In 2010 Nova announced that it would remove their policy of "never more than two ads in a row" by increasing the number of ads broadcast per hour from 12 to 21 during the peak times of breakfast and drive.
Nova 100 is owned by DMG Radio Australia, a subsidiary of the UK's Daily Mail Group, with a sister station 91.5FM, which share the same studio location on Level 2, 678 Victoria St, Richmond VIC.
