The station is located in River Edge, New Jersey and is located at Kinderkamack Road and Grand Street. It is one of two stations in the town; the River Edge station is also located in River Edge. With the addition of "at River Edge" to the station's name, New Jersey Transit now recognizes the station as being in River Edge; when the station was known as North Hackensack NJT had regarded the station as being in neighboring Hackensack. The station was built in 1870, as part of the northern extension of the New Jersey and New York Railroad from Hackensack's station at Essex Street. The station depot was demolished in 1978[1] and replaced by a shelter.[4]
The station is named for the nearby tide-mill hamlet New Bridge Landing, where George Washington and Thomas Paine crossed the narrows of the Hackensack River in his retreat after the loss of Fort Washington during the New York and New Jersey campaign in 1776.[5]

Service
This line runs north-south to Hoboken Terminal with connections via the Secaucus Junction transfer station to New Jersey Transit one-stop service to New York Penn Station and to other NJ Transit rail service. Connections are available at the Hoboken Terminal to other New Jersey Transit rail lines, the PATH train at the Hoboken PATH station, New York Waterways ferry service to the World Financial Center and other destinations and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail service.
The Pascack Valley Line provides service seven days a week.[6]
Parking
Permit parking is operated by the Borough of River Edge. New Bridge Landing Station parking lot permits are issued on a lottery system basis only. Forms are available at the Borough's website or at the Police Department desk at Borough Hall. If your application is drawn at the lottery, a permit decal will be mailed to you. If your application is NOT drawn at the lottery, your check will be returned to you with a blank application form for your use at the next drawing. Effective 2007, the fees are $117.70 for a quarterly permit or $331 for a yearly permit (all fees include 7% New Jersey sales tax).[7]
A total of 21 daily parking spaces are available at the North Hackensack Train Station parking lot and are located on the perimeter of the lot at a cost of $4.00 per day as of 2008. Another 20 spaces are available on Elizabeth Street.[7] These spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis, are limited and tend to fill up quickly.
In anticipation of increased ridership from bi-directional operation, an additional 143 parking spaces were added on August 13, 2008, bringing the total number of spaces to 291.[8][9]
