The fictional multiverse of the Wizards of the Coast Magic: The Gathering trading card game, introduced in 1993, has many characters. This alphabetic list includes characters to which the flavor text on the cards is atributted or who are mentioned in it, along with those referred in related games, novels, comics or short stories.

Taaveti of Kelsinko

Elvish hunter serving the Order of the White Shield. Matt Cavotta has declared him dead as of Coldsnap (Ice Age)

A friend of Maeveen O’Donagh, who died by poison (Card: Venom)

Tahli en-Dal

Bountyhunter. (Card: Armored Pegasus)

Tahngarth

Part of the proud race of Talruum Minotaurs, a champion, Tahngarth served as the first mate of the Weatherlight under Sisay and Gerrard. He is impatient, gruff and vain.

Tangarth is captured and hideously tortured by Volrath, who changes his physical appearance to that of a muscular minotaur with a white head, arms, and chest, with brown spots throughout his body. His once straight horns are bent. The transformation unnerves Tahngarth greatly, and he promises revenge. At the end of Apocalypse novel, Tahngarth and Squee, the goblin cabin boy, join Captain Sisay on her new ship Victory.

His card appears in Planeshift as Tahngarth, Talruum Hero.

Takada

Soldier who faced a kami alone after his entire marching column had vanished. (Card: Ashen Monstrosity)

Takara

Daughter of Starke who had bright red hair. Kept prisoner on Rath by Volrath in order to force Starke to do his bidding. Volrath disguised himself as Takara in order to follow Gerrard on the Weatherlight. Back in the Stronghold, the real Takara was rescued by Eladamri, the rebel elf, and joined his cause. Takara followed Eladamri through Belbe's Portal to Dominaria and helped him rally the Llanowar Elves against Phyrexia. She died in the bombing of Llanowar during the Phyrexian Invasion while leading elven civilians to safety.(Stronghold)

Takeno

A Human Samurai General in Kamigawa, leading Konda's Samurai. Takeno was killed when O-Kagachi first manifested in the mortal realm.

Taraneh

A Suq’Ata mage who dabbled in dark magic (Card: Infernal Contract)

Target

Normally referred to simply as "the boy," Target survived a raid on his village by the Gathan warlord Greht in Rift-Era Keld. For disobeying the warlord's order not to look, the word "target" was carved into his face and he was forced to endure the deaths of his family before being blinded. He was found by Radha, who later announced her intention to turn him into a fierce Keldon warrior. Radha uses the heart of an Ice Giant to increase his power. Despite his young age and handicaps, he proves to be a formidable apprentice, even able to track and wound the invisible, intangible assassin Dinne.

Tavin

A Benalish Hero and weapons-instructor (Duelist online).

Tawnos

Tawnos began as a toy maker, and was enlisted as then Chief Artificer of Kroog Urza's apprentice. It is noteworthy that apprenticeship under Urza was notoriously short-lived, but his intelligence and creativity struck a chord with Urza. This connection was also enjoyed by Urza's neglected wife Princess Kayla, who, finding herself alone and intellectually unchallenged, would seek his confidence. He also maintained a treacherous friendship/rivalry with Mishra's lieutenant Ashnod, as they shared many common philosophies on artifice, but diverged on issues of morality. His reliability and interest in use of animals as a basis for design won him a lasting place at Urza's side. He was promoted directly to the rank of master after his creation of the Clay Statues used to fend off Mishra's attacks. He survived the Sylix blast in a statis box and later died of natural causes.

Taysir

Taysir is one of the planeswalkers. He is a wizard who has existed for thousands of years.

Teeka

A female artificer from the 'Distant Planes' anthology. Specializes in the construction of clockwork beasts that are highly sought by dueling wizards.

Telim’Tor

a Suq’Ata nobleman by birth, Telim’Tor worked throughout his early military career under his older brother Husam, which he resented. He earned his fame as a military leader when he brought back some important maps lost in the Ekundu mountains. Although his troops were decimated in the efforts, Telim blamed the fatally injured Husam for that. Although some people disputed this story, the mission earned Telim’Tor much glory. He became general of Suq’Ata’s army. Respected and feared in Jamuura, his armies were famed for taking no prisoners. His success resulted from pure brutality rather than great tactical displays; even the smallest infractions of protocol in his legions resulted to death. Telim always had a love for toys, he instructed artificers to produce a small array of strange but devious weapons and trinkets, which became his trademark.

Tenza, Godo's Maul is the name of a legendary artifact on Kamigawa (Card: Tenza, Godo's Maul)

Terashi

A powerful kami on Kamigawa (Card: Terashi's Cry)

Teroh

Major of the Northern Order's army. Became the de facto leader of the Order on the deaths of Captain Pianna and Lieutenant Kirtar. Teroh was even more fanatically opposed to the Cabal than either of his predecessors and led the Order to begin a siege of Cabal City. Was part of the team that was responsible for Skellum's death in the pits. He was killed by Chainer when he raided an order camp full of wounded soldiers. On the orders of the Cabal First. (Torment)

a Breathstealer from Urborg (card: Nocturnal Raid)

Tetsuo Umezawa

A descendant of Toshiro Umezawa (Legends, Kamigawa) and a loyal Champion of Madara Empire. His belief in peace and honorable government was betrayed by Lord Dark the Assassin's plots to assassinate him with the Edrami massacre, while the Emperor elder dragon Nicol Bolas supporting Lord Dark for his own amusement. With the death of Kei, his healer apprentice by the hand of Lady Xira, Tetsuo turned his sword against Lord Dark and Emperor. With extraordinary magic sword skill, he slew Lady Orca, Lady Xira and Lord Dark. He eventually destroyed Nicol Bolas' physical body and trapped his soul into oblivion. It was believed that he ruled Madara after the fall of Emperor and made Nekoru dragons as the protectors of Talon's gate, where Nicol Bolas was entrapped.

Tevesh Szat

On Dominaria Tevash Szat (also known as the Doom of Fools) used to be known as Tev Loneglade of Sarpadia. He began his mission to exterminate all life on the plane when his sister Tymolin was murdered by Oliver after he suspected her of being a servant of Tourach.

His basic form after the death of Tymolin is that of a well-built blue draconic humanoid with about eight tentacles for legs and a long speared tongue, which he frequently sticks out. He speaks with a lisp similar to serpents, reflecting his sly nature.

During the Ice Age the demonlord became trapped in the Shard. Striving to prolong the Ice Age, he was an ally of Lim-Dûl. At the end of the Ice Age he escaped to Shandalar. He returned to Dominaria years later after sensing Ravidel's Mox Beacon.

During the Invasion cycle, Tevesh Szat is one of the 9 planeswalkers that Urza recruits to destroy Phyrexia. Before he goes to Phyrexia, he tells Darigaaz about the Primevals, tempting him to release them (Szat being a dragon planeswalker thus many dragons worship him). Once in Phyrexia he begins to doublecross the other planeswalkers by killing Kristina (in the second sphere) and Daria (in the third one). However, Urza suspected and anticipated Szat's betrayal, so he activated the killing mechanism in Szat's power armor. This drained his energy which made it possible to power the soulbombs that the other planeswalkers used to destroy Phyrexia.

Teysa Karlov

The main character of the Guildpact novel. Equal parts ambition and execution. With a few well-chosen words and a couple of well-planned smiles, she can make practically anyone dance to her tune. She is an Orzhov advokist (lawyer), but retires early to become the baroness of the Utvara region. She also makes an appearance in the Dissension novel. (Card:Teysa, Orzhov Scion)

Tezzeret

A human male planeswalker born on Esper who specializes in Artifice and Mental Magic. He is a vain, egocentric, and cruel figure whose current whereabouts are unknown, but he had joined a Sect on Esper called the Seekers of Carmot who were said to possess the Codex Etherium, a sacred tome containing Carmot's teachings. He joined in hopes of seeing the Tome and inheriting its secrets. The night he sneaked into the inner sanctum to steal the tome, he was caught and the ensuing battle almost killed him. During this battle, his spark flared and allowed him to escape. He blindly walked to Grixis, where he fought a collection of foul beasts and earned the attention of Nicol Bolas. With his new found knowledge of adjacent planes, he sought the driving force behind the Seekers of Carmot.

It can be surmised that he eventually gave up this search in favor of usurping the Infinite Consortium from Nicol Bolas. He personally recruited Jace Beleren for the Ravnican cell, an act that would lead to his eventual downfall at Jace's hands on Kamigawa. His mindless body ended up in the hands of Nicol Bolas and his part in the conflux of Alara is left to question.

In the web comic book on magicthegathering.com Tezzeret's body is revealed to have been retained by Nicol Bolas, leaving the reader to believe there is a resurrection process that Tezzeret is undergoing. In Mirrodin Besieged he returns as a servant of Bolas. ((Card: Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas)

He is later revealed to have been healed by Nicol Bolas (damage to his mind repaired and a new flesh arm as his etherium arm was removed by Jace). Bolas, after awakening Tezzeret, forces upon him a "watcher" known as Docter Jest (Doc as Tezzeret proceedes to call him) and sets him on a quest to find Crucius the Mad Sphinx, the only being ever known to create etherium. After encounters with Jace, Belitrace, Renn, Sharuum, and Kemuul he is found on a plane made entierly of etherium. He finds on the way there that Bolas has all but removed his emotions and made him smarter and more focused. He also discovers that Doc is just a split personality of his own (the person he used to think he would become as a child). After an ensuing battle with Bolas, Jace, Liliana, and Belitrace he leaves the etherium plane to hide on Ravnica but Doc informs him that Bolas has sent him on a last mission to Mirrodin (presumably to track the progress of New Phyrexia).

While on Mirrodin Venser, Elspeth, and Koth find Tezzeret working with Glissa and Geth to spread the phyresis. While Tezzeret appeared to be helping spread the phyresis he gave Venser, Elspeth and Koth a "fleshling" that was immune to the Phyrexian plauge and whether or not he actually was trying to help them stop Phyrexia or not. It is later revealed that Tezzeret was trying to get Venser, Elspeth, and Koth to kill Glissa so he could stand next to Karn in order to control New Phyrexia but they were unable to do so, so he had to confront Glissa directly. It is unknown whether or not at this point if Doc is still with him or if he defeated Glissa or how he got his etherium arm back. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Thabit of Almaaz

A songwizard who brought forth the Serra Angels to aid the Rebellion against the Sheoltun Empire.

Thaddeus

A Metathran general, brother of Agnate. During the Phyrexian Invasion he led one half of the "Metathran pincer" at the Battle of Koilos, against Phyrexian General Tsabo Tavoc. His lethality in battle fascinated Tsabo, so she lured him into a trap and imprisoned him, employing the aid of Phyrexian vat priests to vivisect the Metathran general. He was euthanized by Agnate during the final stages of the battle.

Tharashk

The Bold. A lesser demon of the Rakdos Guild on Ravnica. Of late, he isn't himself. (Card: Mark of Eviction)

Thargrin

Grandson of Jarsyl, Grandfather of Jodah

The Sapling

A nameless sprout who grew from the old Treefolk, Colfenor. She was one of the few inhabitants of Lorwyn that weren't affected by the Aurora. She holds all of Colfenor's wisdom, which she plans to use to help her forerunner's former pupil, Rhys.She was slain by Oona when Rhys and his band were trying to kill Oona.

Thed

A Benalish patrol guard in the same company as Adom Capashen who defended New Benalia against the sliver menace. Killed by a sliver while frozen in a sudden time rift. (Card: Fury Sliver)

Thelon

An elf worshipped as a god by the Havenwood Elves (Fallen Empires), and the inventor of the Thallids. Returns to Dominaria through time fractures in Time Spiral. (Card: Thelon of Havenwood)

Theodar

A legendary hero who seemed indestructible (Card: Indestructible Aura)

Thriss

The legendary Nantuko Primus of Otaria, Thriss helped Kamahl on his journey as a druid. (Judgment) (Card: Thriss, Nantuko Primus)

Thurzen Klathe

High Priest of the Ebon Hand (Fallen Empires)

Tibor

A powerful wizard, married with Lumia. Together, they harness the powers of wind and flame. (Card: Tibor and Lumia) (Ravnica)

Timein

A student at Tolaria. Timein was greatly opposed to the Bloodlines project. He was assigned as Gatha's assistant before Gatha left. His work on empathy to the land, which affects the type of magic one can use, was extremely important to the project.

Titania

Avatar of Gaea. Spirit of Nature on Dominaria. Ruler of Argoth during the Brother’s War. (Card: Titania's Boon, Titania's Song)

Tivadar of Thorn

Tivadar of Thorn was the leader of the Knights of Thorn during the Dark on Dominaria. He led a major campaign against the goblins and orcs of Terisiare alongside Ith. Tivadar was born in the town of Thorn in northeastern Terisiare and was probably disenfranchised by a goblin attack. As a young boy, he joined the army of the city-state of Ghed, where he briefly served with the wizard Jodah, who deserted during the Battle of Pitdown. Even as a child, he believed that the wars between the city-states were pointless and distracted humanity from their true enemy, the savage goblins. Later in life, Tivadar penned The History of the Goblin Wars.

Tobias Andrion

Most famed administrator of the legendary military state of Sheoltun. Tobias Andrion was the military right arm of the empire and the figurehead of its freedom. He was instrumental in establishing the young empire’s military dominance over its neighbors. But his true legacy to central Aerona was his successful campaign to eliminate the longstanding organized piracy in the region. Although Sheoltun already held the mainland with an iron grip when Tobias was born, it was not yet established on the islands. He battled the pirates of the Spice Isles over a course of three decades. He was himself slain by the captain and crew of the pirate ship '‘Wavespawn'’. A terrible legend claims that Tobias was almost immediately reanimated, to dance upon the lifeless remains of his crew on the bottom of the ocean, a macabre dance he continues until this day.

Author of Watchdragon (Card: Spinal Villain)

Tocasia

Argivian female archaeologist and artificer searching for artifacts of the Thran Empire, trainer and master of Urza and Mishra. Creator of the Onulets. She was killed in the first confrontation of the Brother’s War which also destroyed her school.

In an alternate universe presented by the set Planar Chaos, Tocasia is a master of elemental magic instead of an artificer (card: Primal Plasma)

Toggo

A renowned goblin weaponsmith on Otaria. Inventor of, amongst other things, lightning and rocks. Has discovered that wood burns better than beforementioned rocks. (Onslaught)

Toggo VI

A renowned goblin weaponsmith and military theorist in Rift-Era Dominaria. Discovered, amongst other things, that people are afraid of fire. (Card: Firefright Mage)

Tojira

Sorcerous swamp queen hiding in the ruined Thran city of Dakmor. (Portal Second Age)

Tok-Tok

Tok-Tok, Volcano Born is a legendary Goblin Shaman on Kamigawa. (Card: Tok-Tok, Volcano Born)

Tolsimir Wolfblood

A sacred elven paladin warrior of the Conclave. His mount Voja is known to be the greatest wolf in the Selesnya Conclave. Little is known about him other than that he is probably a ledev guardian. (Card: Tolsimir Wolfblood) (Ravnica)

Toothlicker Harj

An orcish captain during the (Ice Age)

Tor Wauki

A legendary archer (Legends; Card: Ambush Party). Tor Wauki was the second to Madara's champion Tetsuo Umezawa. When Tetsuo fell from grace, Tor was reduced to a mere archer in Madara's army, under Tetsuo's orders to observe Commander Warbeard. Later, with help from Ayesha Tanaka, Tor would destroy the imposter Warbeard. (Card: Tor Wauki)

Stepped on by a Giant Cockroach (Card: Giant Cockroach; 7th edition)

Torgle

A mountaintop boatmaker who finally sees himself affirmed. (Card: Sea's Claim, Ninth edition)

Tormod

Someone only known for his crypt, which is a very annoying card for decks that revolve around graveyards. (Card: Tormod's Crypt)

Torsten von Ursus

A legendary hero who guided the ancestors of Benalia out of the ruins of the once-great Sheoltun Empire. Originally a member of the legendary knights of Jenges, Torsten von Ursus came from the country of Wrenna. After a terrible mage claimed the throne of Wrenna he left the order and traveled Southwest. He spent some time at the base of the Hurloon Mountains, and actually entered the dread land of the minotaurs to study minotaur philosophy for several years. After that, he traveled onwards and stumbled on the blighted city of Benfosa which was a perfect place to implement his gathered wisdom and philosophies. Determined to change Benfosa into his vision of a proper nation, Torsten let nothing stand in his way- including the rather reluctant citizens of the newly renamed Benalia. Torsten chose the name Benalia, which means aspiration, proclaiming its intent to rule the world. Using sometimes-brutal tactics he brought an entire nation into being using nothing other than the force of his will and the brutal charisma of the natural leader. After succeeding in much of his goal, he died at the age of seventy-two, leaving behind the legendary Lost Edict, which consigned Benalia to the alternating care of his seven lieutenants and their families. Toshiro Umezawa

Toshiro "Toshi" Umezawa (Toshiro Umezawa) is a rogue ochimusha from Numai, a section of the Takenuma Swamp. (see Kamigawa). Though he constantly made enemies wherever he went, nobody was truly able to get the best of Toshi. During the Kami war, he took the Myojin of Night's Reach as his patron. Being already clever and having numerous astounding feats to his name, he became one of the most powerful beings in Kamigawa. He served the princess in her efforts to unify the living world against the spirits and discern the reasons for the war. After the Kami War, he was banished to the plane of Dominaria by the Myojin of Night's Reach for disobeying one of her orders. There he went on to establish a family of warrior-mages dedicated to the strict discipline of wielding black-based magic. One famous descendant of Toshiro was (Tetsuo Umezawa), the champion of Madara. Toshi was known to use a jitte (Umezawa's Jitte) for his kanji and self-defense.(Kamigawa)

Tourach

The founder of the Order of the Ebon Hand, which worshipped the Ebon Praetor instead of the Hand of Justice. His followers deified him after his death. (Fallen Empires)

Towazu

Pseudonym of "The Unspeakable", the Kami of ultimate arcane knowledge. It is said that any attempt to learn the secrets of Towazu accidentally summons him, enabling him to pour the endangered knowledge of the Kami on to the summoner's mind. This turns the curious into gibbering madmen, forever spouting undecipherable words. It is unknown whether Towazu's attacks have the same effect on planeswalkers as the only planeswalker recorded to visit Kamigawa before the mending is Nicol Bolas, once during his duel with Leshrac (though he never entered the plane's borders), and another is implied by the existence of the Infinite Consortium Cell on Kamigawa, though this is never stated outright.

Trebeccia

Artificer. She once fell through a Phyrexian Portal and was saved by her lover Tande (Duelist online)

Treva the Renewer

Treva is the primeval dragon of New Argive, the art associated to her was Knowledge. She was imprisoned beneath an ancient library, to symbolize the capture of her precious knowledge. (Invasion).

Trigori

An Azorius Senator on Ravnica with strong and unfavorable personal opinions of the other guilds. (Cards: Incite Hysteria, Savage Twister)

Trivaz

An Izzet mage of Ravnica. Trivaz is very prone to judging things by his own high standards. (Cards: Seed Spark, Drake Familiar, Gelectrode )

Tross

A Vainus Expedition Leader (Card: Glacial Wall)

Tsabo Tavoc

Half-human female, half-mechanical spider, Tsabo Tavoc is a Phyrexian general and second-in-command to the Evincar Crovax. She led the initial Rathi invasion of Dominaria and succeeded in conquering Benalia, one of the reasons that she achieved such high status. After suffering a crushing defeat at the Caves of Koilos and failing to convert Gerrard Capashen to the side of Yawgmoth, she was slain and cannibalized by Crovax for her failure. Tuwile

A mundungu of Aku (Card: Mundungu)

Tymolin Loneglade

Sister of Tev Loneglade (Tevesh Szat). In the Fallen Empire comics she was the main character along with Tev. She is shown escaping from the dwarven empire just before it fell to the Orcs and her lover slain. Heartbroken she returns to her loving brother Tev, who previously placed a spell of longevity on her to keep her alive (and possibly with him). They go to a city where they are confronted by Zealots. They survive the encounter but are separated and Tym is captured by the Ebon Hand. They intend to use her as bait, as she used to be Oliver's lover. When she's brought before him however they exchange harsh words. Oliver then kills her believing her to be Tourach's servant. her death sends Tev over the edge as he becomes Tevesh Szat and kills all who where there for his sister's death.

Tywanna

A female Shaper Guildmage from Zhalfir (Card: Wave Elemental)
