Mangara of Corondor

A politically savvy Corondor wizard. Some two hundred years before the happenings of Mirage, Mangara came to Jamuraa. He witnessed with Kaervek and Jolrael the aftermath of the phasing out of Teferi’s Isle. After he settled on Jamuraa Mangara created a peace agreement between Zhalfir/Femeref and the new state of Suq’Ata. Within a century Mangara’s Harmony created a new age of enlightenment. Slowly as Mangara’s rule took shape, his enemy Kaervek was able to draw the reclusive Jolrael into the politics of the region. In time, the two mages built covert armies of animals and spirits throughout Jamuraa. Kaervek waited, occasionally instigating border disputes between Zhalfir and it’s neighbours and infighting among the Zhalfirin nobility. Eventually the disputes flared and blood accidentally spilled. Within days, civil war seemed imminent. This disruption was all Kaervek needed, he sent dozens of evil spirits into the lands, fanning the flames of old hatred to spark across the borders. Mangara was at a loss, unable to control the steadily worsening situation. It was then that Kaervek sent a message to Mangara, an offer of assistance in dealing with the troubles. Mangara agreed to meet with Kaervek in the Mwonvuli Delta. There he was ambushed by Kaervek and Jolrael and captured within the Amber Prison, which remained in one of Jolrael’s palaces. Many of the Zhalfirins believed Mangara had fled the land, leaving it to civil war, other believed he had died in the Mwonvuli. The leaders of Jamuraa (Asmira, Sidar Jabari, Hakim Loreweaver, Rashida Scalebane) are then driven by dreams and visions sent by Teferi to unite to rescue Mangara. Asmira frees Mangara. While imprisoned, Mangara had continued to scrye upon Jamuraa, so he magically transported himself to the Uuserk marshes to face Kaervek, who was taken by surprise. The wizards lashed at one another with spells, but the surrounding abundance of black mana gave Kaervek the upper hand. The mages of Aku released several djinn to attack Kaervek, but he stole control from them and turned the djinn upon Mangara - exactly as they hoped, for the djinn would allow Mangara to gain strength from their attacks. Mangara summoned a unit of Quirion archers, which cut down Kaervek’s forces. Kaervek himself was downed by the first of their arrows; before he recovered, Mangara pinned the mage and sealed him in the Amber Prison. Mangara then rebuilt Zhalfir and Femeref, aided by the new trust between the countries.

Mangara is drawn through the time rifts to Dominaria in the Time Spiral block (as is Kaervek). (Card: Mangara of Corondor, Amber Prison)

Maralen then started the Faerie civil war in an attempted to destroy Oona and take control of the faerie armies. Cornered into a canyon, the Weatherlight arrives just in time to chase away the enemy, leaving only Maraxus to challenge Gerrard. When Starke reveals the secret of Maraxus’ strength - that he draws power from the presence of others - Gerrard faces the warlord alone. In the pitched battle that follows, Gerrard is the clear victor, but before he can convince Maraxus to surrender and confess what he has done with Sisay, Starke comes out of hiding. Instead of leaving with the others, he had remained behind, and before Maraxus can expose him for a traitor, he stabs the Keldon warlord in the back. Maraxus dies. Gerrard sought her out after he decided to return to the Weatherlight. Injured during the mission to Rath, she was the first to discover that Crovax had been transformed by Selenia's curse. She wrestled him off the ship and, fearing that Gerrard would jeopardize himself and the mission to rescue her, allowed Crovax to kill her. (Card Mirri, Cat Warrior)

Urza was then taken captive by Multani. Urza's consciousness merged with Yavimaya's, and was forced to experience firsthand the destruction he visited on Argoth. After Kerick broke free on Tolaria, Urza rushed to the Academy's defense, inadvertently bringing Multani with him. Together, they destroyed Kerrick and his minions. Later Multani trained Mirri, Rofellos and Gerrard. During the Rathi overlay on Dominaria, Multani aided the defenders against the Phyrexian invasion. Fearing for his homeland Yavimaya, he returned only to find peace.
