It is located in the Bronzeville community of Chicago, Illinois, USA. The Academy includes a mandatory Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) instructional component in addition to a four-year college preparatory curriculum. It is the first public military academy for high school students in the city. The school is designed to build a student's leadership skills and to provide students with many different qualifications.[clarification needed (what?)]
