Wells Community Academy High School is a public secondary school located in Chicago, Illinois, United States.
Wells, which serves grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Chicago Public Schools.
The school is located in the West Town area. Some areas of the Chicago Loop area, including The New Eastside, Palmolive Building and Water Tower Place, are zoned to Wells; 340 on the Park and Trump International Hotel and Tower will be zoned to Wells when they open, if the school boundaries stay the same.
History
Wells opened in 1935 as a high school. Originally, the city of Chicago planned for Wells to open as a junior high school in 1930; construction of the school was delayed [http://www.wells.cps.k12.il.us/history123.htm] .
School uniforms
Wells requires school uniforms [http://www.wells.cps.k12.il.us/dress_code123.htm] . Students uniform colors depend on the paths chosen by the students. The law program students wear grey golf shirts and business and technology wear blue golf shirts. Freshman wear white golf shirts and are isolated from 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.
