Benito Juarez Community Academy, formerly Juarez High School, is a
public high school of theChicago Public Schools , located in the Pilsen neighborhood. It is named for Mexican PresidentBenito Juárez .Juarez is currently undergoing major renovation to include a campus, performing arts center, and athletic fields. Juarez provides a rigorous curriculum, in a safe, orderly environment. Technology is integrated, and there are ten modern computer labs. Programs include Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Calculus, Chemistry, Chinese Language and Culture, English Language and Composition, English Literature, European History, Physics, Spanish Language, Spanish Literature, Statistics, Studio Art–Drawing, Studio Art 2-D Design, U.S. Government/Politics, and United States History. The school offers a variety of curricular options, including AVID; College Excel; Licensed Practical Nursing; Project Lead the Way; Transportation Academy; Police and Firefighter Training Academy; TV production; Work Experience Cooperative Education Program (WECEP), and Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC).
MissionThe Mission of Benito Juárez Community Academy is to provide an academic program that involves the administration, staff, parents, LSC members, and the community at large working as partners to ensure that all students, including those with special needs, are actively engaged in a continuous process of reading improvement in all subject areas.
VisionThe Vision of Benito Juárez Community Academy is to create an environment that places the needs of all students first, including those with special needs, prepares them to take advantage of new opportunities, and provides them the critical thinking skills to make informed choices in life, and to function effectively in their community.
The school currently has an attendance of 1,565 students.
