History
The Company was formed in 1976 by Michael Page and Bill McGregor who placed accountants into permanent positions in the United Kingdom.[3] Initially the pair worked in London, but by 1979 had opened offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds and Bristol.[3] In 1985 an office was opened in Australia, and the organisation opened in France in 1986.[3] Michael Page himself retired in 1995, with Terry Benson appointed as Chief Executive in 1990.[3] In 2006 Terry Benson resigned, and Steve Ingham was appointed Chief Executive.[3]
In 1985 Michael Page City was launched, specialising in Banking and Financial Services recruitment.[3] In 1986 the organisation expanded into Legal recruitment.[3] In 1992 a division was opened for Public Sector recruitment, and for Engineering in 2001.[3]
In 1983 Michael Page International was first listed on the Unlisted Securities Market.[3] Michael Page was admitted to the London Stock Exchange in 1988.[3] In 1997 it was acquired by Sperion Corporation (formerly Interim Services Inc.). It was demerged from Sperion Corporation in 2001.[4]
Operations
Michael Page International is a provider of permanent, contract and temporary recruitment for clerical professionals, qualified professionals and executives. The company is organised into three operational brands. Michael Page, Michael Page Executive Search and Page Personnel. The Company specialises in the recruitment of qualified professionals across various disciplines.[5]
Staff
The organisation has also been voted 58th in the Sunday Times '100 Best Companies to Work For' list for 2011, receiving particular commendation for its organic growth policy and development of talent from within.[6]
