History
The company was founded by Jim Bloom, Mike Field and twenty-one other East Riding of Yorkshire farmers producing pig feed in 1974 under the name Cranswick Mill. It subsequently diversified into food production. It was first listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1993.[2] It also diversified into pet products in 1993 with the purchase of George Buckton.[3]
In 2001 it acquired Continental Fine Foods,[4] in 2005 it bought Perkins Chilled Foods for £81 million[5] and in 2006 it acquired Delico, a cooked meats producer, for £18 million.[6]
Operations
The Company is a producer of foods and pet products:
- Foods: fresh pork, gourmet sausages, charcuterie, sandwiches and dry-cured bacon
- Pets: bird and small animal food, marine fish and aquatic products
