Carpetright plc (lse|CPR) is one of the largest British retailers of floor coverings. The Company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

History

The Company was founded by Lord Harris in 1988 when he opened the first store in Canning Town. [http://www.carpetright.plc.uk/pages/about_us/history/default.aspx Carpetright History] ] It was first listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1993 and in 1999 it bought selected Carpetland stores and Allied Carpets stores. It acquired its first operations in Continental Europe in 2002 and in 2005 acquired May's World of Carpets.

Operations

As of the May 2008 the Company now has 675 stores.
