Fuller's district included Bakersfield, Frazier Mountain, Ridgecrest, Tehachapi, Taft, and Kern River Valley.
Fuller was elected in November 2006 and replaced outgoing Assemblymember and current Congressman for the 22nd district of California, Kevin McCarthy.
Prior to being elected to the California Assembly, Fuller served as Superintendent of Schools for the Bakersfield City School District, the largest non-unified pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade district in California.

Background & Education
Jean Fuller attended the University of California and Exeter College. She received her AA degree from Bakersfield College in 1970, her BA from California State University, Fresno in 1972, a Masters in Public Affairs from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1982 and her PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1989. She also attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education.[1]
Community involvement
Fuller's professional and community leadership include the Kern County Museum Authority Board, the Boy's and Girl's Club Board, Jim Burke Education Leaders Forum, and the Kern County Superintendent's Administrative Advisory. Statewide leadership roles include the California School Boards Association, Association of School Administrators and the institute for Education Reform. Fuller was named California Superintendent of the Year by the American Association of School Administrators in the 2004/2005 school year. Fuller earned national recognition for school improvement in 1998 when she was awarded the AASA Leadership for Learning Award.
2010 Elections
Fuller won the election for the California State Senate in for California's 18th State Senate district in 2010 . Republican incumbent Roy Ashburn was term-limited.
