The Legislative districts of Agusan del Norte, namely the first and second districts, are the current representations of the province of Agusan del Norte and the independent city of Butuan in the Philippine House of Representatives.
Starting 1916 the Department of Mindanao and Sulu, of which Agusan was a special province, was given representation in the Philippine Legislature. However, the Department's five delegates were appointed by the Governor-General rather than elected by popular vote. Agusan only began electing its own representative in 1935 after Act No. 4203 granted each province within the Department an elected representative. Areas now under the jurisdiction of Agusan del Norte and the city of Butuan (chartered in 1950) were represented as part of the lone district of Agusan until 1969, after its division into Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur on June 17, 1967 by virtue of Republic Act No. 4979.
The province and chartered city were represented in the Interim Batasang Pambansa as part of Region X from 1978 to 1984, and together elected one representative to the Regular Batasang Pambansa in 1984. Effective February 11, 1987, Agusan del Norte (with the highly urbanized city of Butuan) was divided into two congressional districts under the new Constitution, and elected members to the restored House of Representatives starting that same year.
