Chatswood Chase is a large upscale shopping centre in Sydney's North Shore suburb of Chatswood. It is located at the eastern edge of the Chatswood CBD on Victoria Ave. The centre features a major 3 level David Jones department store, Kmart, Coles Supermarket, Harvey Norman plus over 120 specialty stores, most of them upmarket and fashion oriented. The centre is situated over 4 levels.
LG-Lower Ground, features Kmart, Coles plus many food and convenience stores.
G-Ground, features the lower level of David Jones, as well as designer fashion and the Apple Retail Store. Also has direct access to Archer St. and Victoria Ave.
1-Level 1, like Ground, featuring designer fashion and the middle level of David Jones. Also has some cafes.
TL-Top Level, features the top level of David Jones.
Despite being one of the Sydney's premier centres the new owners of Chatswood Chase are proceeding with a large and extensive redevelopment, growing the centre’s gross lettable area by approximately 10,300 sqm. Total cost is expected to be around $170 million.
The Trust previously reported the acquisition of an adjoining office building at 19 Havilah Street in Chatswood and has since also secured an option to purchase the access lane to Chatswood Chase off Malvern Avenue to facilitate the proposed redevelopment. This would involve relocating Coles Supermarket into a larger retail area, undertaking a major extension to the lower ground retail space, the introduction of a new foodcourt, the addition of approximately 130 new car parking spaces and an upgrade to the Victoria Avenue entrance. Apple's second Australian Apple store was opened in the centre on 9 August 2008.
Work is expected to be completed by March 2010.
