Occasional Childcare CentreThe Rockdale Plaza Childcare facility offers permanent, part-time and occasional care. The ultra modern centre is a joint partnership initiative between Rockdale City Council and Comunicare Sydney.

The centre also has ATMs for the Commonwealth Bank and St George Bank.

Transport

Rockdale plaza has convenient acces for cars, buses and taxis. Rockdale Plaza has an underground carpark, accessible from the Princes Highway or from Rockdale Plaza Drive. The closest station to Rockdale Plaza is Rockdale railway station, which is about a 10-minute walk, or about a two-minute bus journey.

The bus stop and taxi stand are directly outside the entrance on Rockdale Plaza Drive.
* Sydney Buses routes '476' and '477' provide a bus service from Rockdale Station to Westfield Miranda, Taren Point, Dolls Point and Kogarah Station.
* Veolia NSW route '958' provides a service to Westfield Hurstville, Kogarah Station, Kogarah Bay and Carss Park.

History

Rockdale Plaza opened in 1997 on the former site of a Waltons department store and outdoor retail complex. Waltons moved to Westfield Hurstville in 1979 and the department store site was used for market stalls for a few years, until it was abandoned and fell into disrepair. The remaining outdoor shopping complex continued to operate until the mid 1990s with Flemings and Franklins supermarkets and a number of specialty shops.

The site was extensively redeveloped in the 1990s to create a shopping centre below a number of residential apartment towers.
