Metro Harbour View (Chinese: 港灣豪庭) is a private housing estate at the intersection of Tai Kok Tsui Road (Chinese: 大角咀道) and Fuk Lee Street (Chinese: 福利街) in Tai Kok Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong, within walking distance to the MTR Olympic Station.[1]
Formerly the Yaumati Ferry shipyard in Tai Kok Tsui, it was jointly developed by Henderson Land Development and Hong Kong Ferry (Holdings) Company Limited in 2003.[2] The development consists of 10 blocks of residential buildings into 2 phases, divided into 3,520 residential units, plus a 2 storey commercial arcade and about 1,100 car parking spaces.[3]
Shopping inside MHV : the MHV shopping mall (Citistore) is extremely convenient for residents, as they have almost direct access to the shopping mall. Especially in bad weather, this is a big plus. There are many good (and low priced = HK$ 30-50) restaurants there. Furthermore there is a Wellcome, 7-Eleven, Mannings and many other shops.
Shopping outside MHV : the areas between Olympic and Metro Harbour View is an old but very lifely area where you will find many small shops and local (= good price) restaurants (Ivy Street is about 7 minutes walk from MHV). More commercial nearby shopping malls are Olympic 1 + 2 (both around 15 minutes walk) or Langham Place (Mongkok, 15-20 minutes walk or minibus 12A/B). Other interesting (local) shopping areas are the (local) market in Sham Shui Po (10 minutes walk).
Atmosphere & Facilities: the large Podium Garden is place between the 2 x 5 blocks, is well designed and properly maintained. There are two playground areas for children. The two clubhouses provides lots of facilities such as: gym, bowling, badminton hall, swimming pool, reading area and many more. A lot of activities are organized on a regular basis. The atmosphere is safe and child friendly.
Management: MHV is well guarded by friendly and correct personnel. The guards give you a safe, comfortable & welcome feeling. The facilities in MHV are well maintained.
View : The view obviously differs depending on location and height, but for example block 10, E-apartment (HK island side) from 20th floor an higher has a nice open view. The following buildings are visible: - ICC (center, full length) - HK Island (right from the IFC1, center view) - Harbour Green residential building (right side) - The Hermitage (left side) - Via the side window you have a nice (island) view on West Kowloon Road, Sham Shui Po and Lai Chi Kok in the distance - Part of the Tai Kok Tsui harbour is visible - In the evening you will see part of the daily HK island laser show (starting each day from 8 pm)
In general, when you face HK island, you will have a lively and colorful view. Though there is quite some traffic, noise levels are on an acceptable level.
Parks / green facilities : MHV has three parks nearby: - Nam Cheong Park (the biggest, on less than 5 minutes walking) - Lok Kwan Street Park (in front of MHV, a local but very 'cozy' small park) - Tung Chau Street Park (with local sporting facilities, about 2 minutes walking across Chui Yu road)
Transportation
Public light bus: two or three minibusses (12A / 12B) almost always wait in front of MHV. The trip to Mong Kok or Mong Kok East Station takes about 12 minutes.
Bus: several bus lines stop at the Tai Kok Tsui Rd. bus stop (2 minutes walk). Bus line 914 brings you to HK island via Central to Tin Hau in about 1 hour (depending on the time you travel). On Sham Mong Rd (5 minutes walk) you will find several other bus lines, among which minibus 78 to Tsim Sha Tsui.
MTR: Prince Edward Station, Olympic Station and Nam Cheong Station are on 15 minutes walking distance. Mong Kok Station (Langham Place) is about 15-20 minutes walk.
