cross-platform interchange station between the HK-MTR lines|Tsuen Wan and the HK-MTR lines|Kwun Tong. The stations to the north are Sham Shui Po and Shek Kip Mei on the Tsuen Wan Line and Kwun Tong Line respectively. Both lines stop at Mong Kok station to the south.Although the Kwun Tong Line tracks had already been laid for the station in
1979 , the station was not opened until the Tsuen Wan Line opened in1982 , since the station was designed principally for the purpose of interchanging to ease the expected overcrowded interchange at Mong Kok Station.Prince Edward Station and Mong Kok Station are the two closest stations in Hong Kong. They are only about 400 metres apart, and the train takes less than one minute to travel from one station to the other.

Passengers travelling to Tsuen Wan/Kwai Chung, Tung Chung, Tuen Mun/Yuen Long, and
Sham Shui Po District can take the westbound Kwun Tong Line train and cross over to the opposite Tsuen Wan Line train towards Tsuen Wan.Passengers wishing to go to East Kowloon (includes Tseung Kwan O) can take the Tsuen Wan Line train towards Central and cross over to the opposite Kwun Tong Line train towards Tiu Keng Leng.
Entrances/Exits
All exits are within one block of Nathan Road, stretching from Prince Edward Road in the south, to Playing Field Road in the north.

Cross Border Bus Services (Exits A, C2 and D)
Many cross border buses terminate near Prince Edward MTR Station. Travellers to Shenzhen, Dongguan or Guangzhou can exit the station through Exits A, C2 and D for the stops at Playing Field Road or Portland Street.
