South Horizons

South Horizons (海怡半島) is a residential area on the island of Ap Lei Chau, in Hong Kong. It consists of 34 blocks, ranging in height from 25 to 42 storeys, constructed from 1991-1995.

Transportation

Buses

Currently, there are only buses that serve South Horizons to the rest of Hong Kong. Raods and highways are limited due to the mountainous areas that prevent too many roads for transport to go through. Pok Fu Lam Road is a way to Kennedy Town while Aberdeen Tunnel leads to Wan Chai. Although the tunnel is a toll, many would rather go there instead of Pok Fu Lam Road due to its convenience to the city center.

MTR System

A new station, South Horizons, on the MTR South Island Line East Section, is scheduled for completion in 2014. The project is very neccesary due to the growing population in the Southern District such as Aberdeen and Pok Fu Lam Estates. However, the project has two phases. The South Island Line West and the South Island Line East are run on different routes. The Western Line is more likely to not be made due to the fact that very few people live on the western edge of the island, where the cliffs are very steep and jut down into the ocean. The project layout has been changed many times, and the most recent and popular is shown below:
