Red Cotton
Red Cotton, played by real life band William and the Tells, will make their first on screen appearance in January 2012.[1][2] The band's casting was announced on 21 September 2011.[1] William and the Tells are a four piece indie group from Melbourne fronted by siblings William and Peter Ewing, with their friends Ben Callaghan and Sam Walsh.[1][3] The group have been renamed Red Cotton for their one month guest stint with the show.[1] They began filming their first scenes the week following the casting announcement.[1] William and the Tells will perform their own material when they appear as Red Cotton, during a storyline which sees Andrew Robinson (Jordan Smith) become their manager.[2] Of joining Neighbours William Ewing said "It's a huge opportunity for a bunch of local boys. Being able to blend acting and music will be great fun, and I'm looking forward to meeting long-time hero Lou Carpenter."[2]
Dominic Emmerson
Dominic Emmerson, played by former Home and Away actor Lincoln Lewis, will make his first on screen appearance in February 2012.[4][5] The character and casting was announced on 24 September 2011.[6] Lewis has a four week guest stint with Neighbours and of his casting he said "I've wanted to be on Neighbours since I was a little kid and finally it has happened."[6] Lewis will began filming his scenes alongside Ashleigh Brewer and Stefan Dennis on location in Port Douglas from 10 October.[6][7][8] The shoot will last for a week.[8] Dominic Emmerson is a marine biologist who encounters Brewer's character, Kate Ramsay, in Queensland.[6] Dominic is "charismatic" and Kate finds he is the distraction she has been looking for.[6] She and Dominic end up having a holiday fling.[7] Of playing Dominic, Lewis said "It's such a fun little role."[7]
Luke Malliki
Luke Malliki, played by Nathan Strauss, will make his first on screen appearance in February 2012.[9] Strauss will appear alongside Ashleigh Brewer (Kate Ramsay) for three episodes.[9]
Jessica Girdwood
Jessica Girdwood, played by Glenda Linscott, will make her first on screen appearance in March 2012.[10] The character and casting was announced on 10 November 2011.[10] Linscott has a three month guest contract with Neighbours.[10] Linscott films her scenes in the same studio in which she filmed Prisoner in the 1980s.[10] The actress said "I just love being back and it's hilarious to still see bits and pieces of those days and I even visited the spot where I said my last lines on Prisoner. I also saw the stairs where I threw many an inmate down - luckily my Neighbours character is more gentle. The impact Prisoner has had on my life is truly amazing."[10] Jessica is described as a "no-nonsense surgeon."[10] She will cross paths with Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher) and Rhys Lawson (Ben Barber), while she works at Erinsborough Hospital.[10]
