Kirsten Gannon is a fictional recurring character on the soap Neighbours.She first appeared in June 2007, and left the same month. She returned in August, leaving again in October and returned as a regular in November. She left the show on July 31 2008

Motherhood and relationship with Ned

Kirsten is the mother of Mickey Gannon after a teenage relationship with Ned Parker in Oakey. She first appeared when she brought Mickey to Ramsay Street and told Ned he was the father and left Mickey with him. A few weeks later she returned announcing to Ned that she was unable to look after Mickey anymore and yet again left Ramsay Street without him.

When Kirsten returned she wanted Mickey back. She went to the park with him and convinced him to go with her by stating that Ned wouldn't care about him if he went, emphasising that he wouldn’t even cry. However, this was not the case as Ned did cry when he found that Mickey had decided to go with her. When Ned discovered that Kirsten had attempted to unfairly woo Mickey, he was determined to make a custody fight. Ultimately, Mickey chose to stay with Ned but yet again Kirsten interfered and took Mickey away. After days of searching they found him and Kirsten trying to go home. Janae and Ned confronted her where Kirsten decided she should leave and Mickey stay in Erinsborough. Kirsten was invited to come back for visits when she wanted.

Janae and Darren

Kirsten caught Janae and Darren Stark kissing. She threatened to tell Ned unless she told him. When Janae told Ned he was upset with her. When they were at a party Janae accidentally let slip what had happened forcing Darren to tell Libby. As result of the aftermath of the revelation Janae left Ramsay Street.

Paul Robinson affair

After quitting her job Kirsten had an affair with Paul Robinson but broke it off when she found out he was still with Rebecca Napier. They then got back together and Paul said he would give up Rebecca for her. Elle Robinson has a suspicion over Kirsten and Paul. When Paul buys a necklace for Kirsten, Elle is suspicious about them and Paul says its for Rebecca. When he gives it to Kirsten, he buys a fake for Rebecca and Elle knows it's a fake. When Elle sees Kirsten she tells her to leave Ramasy Street. Elle catches Paul and Kirsten together and says that she will tell Rebecca, however Elle then decides that she can't say anything to Rebecca because it will break up the family.

During Ned's hospitalisation after the rockfall at the mine, Mickey said that Kirsten needed her boyfriend for support, meaning Paul. Kirsten then tries to convince him he is wrong.

When Ned came home from hospital Mickey became increasingly attached to him and not Kirsten. Ned decided that he, Mickey and Kirsten should go on a family holiday to Queensland. Paul however gives Kirsten a ticket to Paris and asks her to meet him there, which Kirsten does.

When Kirsten returned from Paris and goes straight to Number 22 intending to tell Rebecca she has ended the relationship with Paul. Elle tells her to keep this quiet. Kirsten decides to not spill the beans but Elle can't trust her. So she threatens to fire her from Lassiters. Kirsten decides not to say anything.

After Paul's attempted blackmailing by Lyn Scully, he proposed to Rebecca. Lyn, however, confessed to Susan Kinski about Paul's secret affair with Kirsten, and Susan told Rebecca leading to an ostrasicing of Kirsten.

In July 2008 Carmella Cammeniti threw a surprise birthday for Marco Silvani, which was followed by a forest fire. and half of the Ramsay Street residents. Kirsten, Ned and Marco were missing and Ned found Kirsten badly hurt. She was rushed to hospital and was in a critical condition.

Departure

The July bushfire saw Kirsten hospitalised. During her hospitalisation, Kirsten went into cardiac arrest and was successfully given CPR. Ned kept on helping her but Kirsten refused. Paul Robinson came in and confessed that he left Kirsten for dead. Amazingly she forgave him and asked him if he could stay. On learning that Kirsten was not recovering, Ned decided to leave with her to live in Perth where she could receive treatment. Paul offered to pay for Kirsten's hospital transfer, which Ned accepted.

Kirsten left Ramasy Street on 31st July 2008.
