Samantha 'Sam' Fitzgerald (née Grieves) [Episode 5416, aired Australia 24 March 2008, UK 12 June 2008] ) is a fictional recurring character on the Australian soap opera "Neighbours". She made her on screen debut on March 21, 2008 and departed the show on June 25, 2008. She is portrayed by Simone Buchanan.

Past

Little is known about Sam's past. Although we do know she and Dan met when they were at university, they instantly clicked and married. However, it turned out that she suffered from Bi-polar disorder, which was triggered by a miscarriage at six months. Dan became more her carer than her husband. Eventually she ordered him to leave her. She and Rosetta Cammeniti know each other from studying law at uni.

Arrival

In March 2008 Daniel Fitzgerald and Libby Kennedy fell for each other. After a few weeks Dan admits to Libby that he has a wife but left her. Libby tries to avoid Dan but just can't. When they bump into each other he says he will call her and have a divorce. But on 21st March Libby decided to give Dan another chance but Sam came to Ramasy Street to fix things with Dan. After that Dan told her that he wanted a divorce because he wanted to be with Libby.

Even though Dan has asked for a divorce, Sam still loves Dan and wants him to come back to her, but she signs the divorce papers. Dan fell for Libby, but she finds things too complicated with Sam and thinks that Dan still loves her and turns him down. Recently, Dan and Steph Scully became trapped down a mine. Steve Parker and Ned Parker tried to rescue them from a separate mine shaft, but that collapsed on them and trapped them as well. Dan had helped in the rescue, but in the hospital he collapsed from internal bleeding. He soon recovered. Sam was hurt when the first person Dan asked to see was Libby and not her.

Libby and Dan Reunited

When Sam and Dan got back together one day Ben and Libby came to visit Dan and they all played with each other. Sam saw them in the window so she went away, then Susan Kinski saw her and asked her what was wrong.Secretly, Sam was jealous and Susan was curious.

Baby

Sam took a pregnancy test, when looking at the results Libby walked in and said "Is this congratulations?" Sam didn't want Libby to know the truth so she confirmed that she was pregnant even though it wasn't true. Sam has been continually lying to everyone that she is pregnant including her husband Dan.

Breakdown

In the middle of June Sam stopped taking the medication to control her Bi-Pilar disorder so that she could have a baby. In "Charlie's" Bar she started flirting with Oliver Barnes. When Dan got worried he found her outside Lassiters. She went to hospital and recovered well. Several times she tried to run away from Ramasy Street but Dan kept stopping her eventually she gave in.

Departure

In late June Sam had had enough of Dan and Libby so she bought tickets to New Zealand to start a new life with Dan. But Dan was troubled should he go with Sam...or should he stay with Libby. He decides to stay with Libby and Sam leaves Ramsay Street in tears.

When Dan, Toadie and Callum Jones were going to Declan Napier's birthday Toadie said that Sam had called from London with friends stated that she had gone to London instead of New Zealand.
