The 523-acre (2 km2) park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps on land purchased in 1935.
The park features a 160-acre (1 km2) lake which is a popular location for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. While boats are allowed on the lake, they are restricted to hand-power or electric trolling motors. A 1.3 miles (2 km) nature trail surrounds the lake. Other activities available at the park include picnicking, camping, playgrounds and archery.
