Boundaries
Following the review by the Boundary Commission for England taking effect at the 2010 general election, the North Cornwall constituency shares the same area as the former North Cornwall district. Before 2010, it covered a larger area, including a number of wards from the former Restormel district (Edgcumbe North, Edgcumbe South, Gannel, Rialton, Rock, St Columb and St Enoder) and the town of Newquay, which have been transferred to the new St Austell and Newquay seat. The Stoke Climsland ward has been moved from South East Cornwall to North Cornwall.[2]
This area of Cornwall has long been a traditional electoral battleground between Conservative and Liberal candidates with Labour trailing behind in third place, however, as of 2010, Labour is currently in fourth place, behind UKIP.
