In 2005, the winner of this pageant sent to Miss ASEAN, but since then, Miss Indonesia has been sent to the larger pageant, Miss World.

Requirements
Requirements for selection of participants Miss Indonesia:
- An Indonesian citizen, aged 17-24 years, not married, with a minimum height 165 cm.
- Participants must reside or region from the region represented.
- Appearances attractive / beautiful, intelligent, and personality.
- Able to communication in a foreign language will provide added value.
- Prioritized who have special skills / achievement in a field (e.g.: music, dance, pull the sound, leadership, language, etc.).
