It is located at 370 Danforth Avenue at Chester Avenue, and was opened in 1966.
The Toronto Parking Authority operates a public parking lot across Chester from the subway entrance. It has 83 spaces and is a pay-and-display type operation.

Entrances
There is one entrance to the station, on Chester just north of Danforth. A walkway starting at Jackman/Hurndale provides access from the west.
Nearby landmarks
Nearby landmarks include Greektown and Withrow Park. The station serves the northern part of Riverdale and the southern part of Broadview North.
Surface connections
Chester is the only station in the system that does not connect with regular day-time bus or streetcar routes, resulting in this station being one of the least-used in the system. The closest connection is the 300 Bloor-Danforth Night Bus that operates on Danforth from 1:30-5:30 a.m.
