Toronto ,Ontario ,Canada , to be built on its western branch, the Spadina line. If built, it would be located just south ofSheppard Avenue West on an extension of Bakersfield Street. It is expected to open in early 2015.Nearby landmarks include
Downsview Park , which is Canada's National Urban Park and played host to the 'SARSstock' concert in 2003. It was formerly the site of an airstrip used as a military base (CFB Downsview ), and by an airline manufacturer (DeHavilland ). Other points of interest include the Chesswood hockey arenas, and the industrial lands north of Sheppard. The station would be built underground parallel to Sheppard Avenue. The line would continue from Downsview station along
Allen Road and then curve westward to align with Sheppard's northward alignment, at the CN/GO tracks.Part of the station proposal is that a new station will also be built on
GO Transit 'sBarrie line , to interchange with the subway station.ubway extension
The
Toronto Transit Commission has conducted an environmental assessment for the project to extend the Spadina line north from Downsview through this station toYork University ,Steeles Avenue andVaughan Corporate Centre . The governments ofOntario and Canada have each pledged $670 million of funding for its construction. The City of Toronto and the TTC have expressed concerns about lacking the necessary funding to operate the subway once it is built.External links
