Released on 16 October 2001, the album reached number 19 on the UK Albums Chart and number four on the US Billboard 200 albums chart. Down to Earth spawned just two singles, although both reached the top-ten of the US Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and reached number 18 on the UK Singles Chart. It was the first studio album to feature bassist Robert Trujillo (Metallica) and drummer Mike Bordin (Faith No More), who joined the band in 1996 and 1997, respectively. The album was certified Platinum and has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide.
