His initial band comprised himself, guitaristRandy Rhoads (formerly ofQuiet Riot ), bassistBob Daisley (formerly of Rainbow) and drummerLee Kerslake (formerly of Uriah Heep). KeyboardistDon Airey was also brought in temporarily to record on Osbourne's first album, "Blizzard of Ozz ", in 1980. After the recording of "Diary of a Madman ", released in 1981, Daisley and Kerslake were fired from the band, replaced byRudy Sarzo andTommy Aldridge respectively.In 19 March 1982, while on their way to a festival in
Orlando, Florida , the band were taken on a flight without permission from the plane's owner. During an attempted prank the plane crash, killing the three people inside, one of which was Randy Rhoads. Despite Rhoads' tragic death, Osbourne continued with his solo career just one week later.Bernie Tormé was the first to replace Rhoads, though only for a month, and he was followed byBrad Gillis , who also left shortly after joining.Jake E. Lee was hired in late-1982, and he remained as guitarist until 1987. Meanwhile, bassist Sarzo had left the band and been replaced by returning Bob Daisley. Tommy Aldridge was replaced withCarmine Appice in 1983, who was in turn replaced withRandy Castillo , who stayed for nearly ten years.Mike Inez was Ozzy's bassist from 1989 to 1993, and ex-Sabbath memberGeezer Butler also joined temporarily in 1988 and 1995. Lee left in 1987, and he was replaced by the current Ozzy Osbourne guitarist,Zakk Wylde . Wylde left in 1992, though rejoined soon after. Castillo also left in 1993, replaced byDeen Castronovo .Robert Trujillo joined as bassist in 1996,Steve Vai andAlex Skolnick made brief appearances as the band's guitarist in 1994 and 1995, andJoe Holmes joined in 1995.Mike Bordin became the band's drummer in 1997, and he remains to this day. Trujillo was replaced with ex-Metallica bassistJason Newsted briefly in 2003, andChris Wyse became his replacement until 2005, when Rob Nicholson became a full-time member. After more contributions from Joe Holmes and thenJerry Cantrell , Wylde returned to Ozzy's band in 2006, and he is the current guitarist.Current members
