History
It was founded in 1896 and has grown considerably since its initial set up.
Structure
The National Federation of Builders (NFB) is an independent Federation which supplies comprehensive business solutions to builders, contractors and house builders across England and Wales, non-profit organization. The website also has a list of NFB-approved builders which the public can access. A division of the NFB is the House Builders Association, which is the only voice for small to medium sized housebuilders. It also has an extensive Training programme; discounted products/services through Associate members, advice lines, quality recognition through its logo and many other benefits to its members.

There are seven regional offices:
- Eastern - Wyboston, Bedfordshire
- North West - Grimsargh, Lancashire
- Cymru - Taff's Well, Cardiff
- Midlands - Melbourne, Derbyshire
- South West - Henleaze, Bristol
