Facilities
Chatham is located between Stanley Terrace and Junction Road, with station access from both.
The station consists of an island layout and side platform; Platform 1 & 2 (island platform) has a large red brick building with a roof-sheltered open area, while platform 3 has a small weatherboard sheltered waiting area at the platform entry gate, and is not aligned with the island platform. A large Metcard ticket vending machine is located at the entrance gates to platforms 1 & 2, which is able to dispense most ticketing options and also accept credit cards, notes and coins. A small coin-only Metcard ticket vending machine is located at the entrance gate to platform 3. An underpass is situated at the Flinders Street end of the station.

History
Chatham station opened on 1 April 1927,[1] with the current island platform only. Platform 3 was provided in the 1970s,[2] with services on the third track from East Camberwell extended through the station to Box Hill in 1971.[3]
The station was one of four used for the first trials of the myki ticketing system on the rail network, carried out in August 2008 by Kamco staff. The other stations were East Camberwell, Canterbury and Mont Albert stations.[4]
