Facilities
Mont Albert station is located between Beresford Street and Churchill Street, with access from both.
The station consists of an side platform and island layout; Platform 1 has a large weatherboard building, while platform 2 & 3 (island platform) has a small steel shelter. A myki machine and a large Metcard ticket vending machine are located at the entrance to platform 1, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small coin-only Metcard ticket vending machine is located at the entrance to platform 2 & 3. An underpass is situated at the Flinders Street end of the station.
History
Mont Albert Station opened on 11 August 1890.[1] Track amplification works resulted in the Box Hill bound platform being rebuilt and converted to an island platform in the 1960s.[2] Services on the third track from East Camberwell extended though the station to Box Hill in 1971.[3]
The station was one of four used for the first trials of the myki ticketing system on the rail network, carried out in August 2008 by Kamco staff. The other stations were East Camberwell, Canterbury and Chatham stations.[4]
