At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population was 3,753.[1]

Local amenities
The main local amenities in Middleton Cheney are the parish meeting rooms, the village library, situated on the main road, and the doctor's surgery, situated at 4 Horton Road. There is also a veterinary surgery (Mansion Hill Veterinary Practice), Pudding Pie Coookery School, pharmacy, post office and supermarket. There are two pubs: The New Inn and The Dolphin. Middleton Cheney is home to very large playing fields and a social club that hosts entertainment all weekend, every weekend.
One of the highlights of the year is the annual Middleton Music Festival, a large rock festival usually held around the second weekend in July.
Churches
In the village there are three churches: a Methodist church, All Saints (Church of England), and New Life Community Church (Baptist).
Sport
Middleton Cheney has a village cricket club, tennis club, karate club and football club. The football club plays its home matches at Astrop Road. There is a thriving junior section of the club with teams from U6 upwards playing in the Witney and District Youth Football League.
Education
Middleton has two main schools:
- Chenderit School, a senior school for students age 11-16 and then a sixth form for 16-18, which is being newly expanded and will open Easter 2009
- Middleton Cheney Community Primary School, which provides education for children aged 5–11 and is a feeder school for Chenderit.
Middleton also hosts Middleton Cheney Pre-School in the Methodist school rooms; it has been running for over 20 years. Windmill Nursery offers care for children prior to attending school.
Vice-Admiral Lancelot Holland
Banbury's Admiral Holland pub is named after Middleton Cheney's local hero, Vice-Admiral (posthumously Admiral) Lancelot Holland,[2] who was in commanded of the British navel forces during the Battle of Denmark Strait in May, 1941 against the German's battleship Bismarck. He died captaining the HMS Hood in World War II when attacking the Bismark in the Denmark Straits.
