Plot
Margaret appears before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence as subpoenas continue to be served to members of the White House. The Santos campaign's "education week" is derailed by a controversy over teaching intelligent design. However, the Santos campaign turns the issue around, playing off Vinick's vulnerability as a pro-choice Republican on religious issues while Santos dazzles a skeptical audience with his combination of strong personal faith and strong belief in keeping religion and science separate. However, there is a new problem looming as Leo is served a subpoena.
In the White House, subpoenas are also being handed down on the space-shuttle security leak, and Palestinian Chairman Farad is assassinated by a lone jihadist. As Bartlet is determined to attend the funeral despite security concerns, C.J. is hounded by a lone intelligence agent, Mr. Frost, who believes Farad's death was part of a larger conspiracy. She and Kate Harper don't take Frost seriously but after another assassination that he predicted would take place does (the President of Kazakhstan is killed) they call for an urgent NSC meeting. Through a large part of the episode, Margaret's testimony before the leak committee is shown to go on and on, underlining that C.J. is indeed the focus of the investigation. Eventually, CJ, too, gets served. In the closing moments of the episode (similar to "18th and Potomac") Toby reveals to C.J. that he was responsible for the security leak.
