Returning to Washington, D.C., Air Force One is forced to stay in the air after a minor malfunction.

C.J. must distract the Press Corps, while Will is given the task of briefing President Bartlet on recertifying Colombia as an ally in the war against drugs based on their miserable record in that area.

Meanwhile, in the White House, Josh and Leo deal with the clean-up of Chesapeake Bay via a moderate Republican Congressman (Matt McCoy), who the Democratic leadership wants to target for the next election; Donna Moss grows impatient, knowing that she can do little to nothing in a security crisis, but Josh gives her an assignment to find out what might be up with Air Force One; and Toby meets with an African-American Congressman who wants to reinstate the draft and is threatening to withold funding for the mission in Kundu unless his statements are heard.

Errors

During a scene where CJ and Will attempt to distract the White House Press Corps while a Fighter Jet attempts to get visual confirmation of the landing gear status, Will identifies the fighter as an F-16 Falcon. The Fighter shown is actually an F-15 Eagle.

During the final scene an announcement says that Air Force One will be circling around to Runway 39 At Andrews Air Force Base. There can never be a Runway 39 at any airport. Because runway numbers are based on the 1/10 of the compass direction it points, and compass directions run from 1 to 360, the lowest possible number for a runway is 1 and the highest is 36. See the article on Runways for a detailed examination of how runways are numbered. At Andrews Air Force Base the two runways are 1L/19R and 1R/19L.
