It is around 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Barakar and around 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from Asansol . It is under the Kulti Police Station and under the Kulti Municipality.

Geography
Neamatpur is located at 23°42′50″N 86°52′50″E / 23.713835°N 86.880694°E.
The Asansol-Durgapur region is composed of undulating latterite soil. This area lies between two mighty rivers – the Damodar and the Ajay. They flow almost parallel to each other in the region – the average distance between the two rivers is around 30 km. For ages the area was heavily forested and infested with plunderers and marauders. The discovery of coal led to industrialisation of the area and most of the forests have been cleared.[1] At the western fringe of the area the Barakar forms the boundary with Jharkhand.The main Railway Station is Sitarampur Jn.
Economy
It is in the heart of the coal mining zone.[2] Some people in Neamatpur are also engaged with work in the Railways.
Demographics
It mainly consists of Bengali, Marwari and Hindi-speaking people from Bihar and Jharkhand.
Educational institutions
The Belrui N.G. Institution and Jaladhi Kumari Devi uchcha Balika Bidyalaya are the two most renowned schools in and around Neamatpur. These two schools have produced many board exam Toppers in the Asansol subdivision. The Nearest English Medium Schools are St. Patricks High School, St. Vincents School,and Loreto Convent in Asansol and The Assembly of God Church School at Sodepur. Higher Education facilities like Colleges are not available and one has to go to Asansol or some other town in the state or outside the state. There is an old primary school in the midst of the locality named "Kalidasi Vidyabithi" which is now upgraded to middle school stage.This school is named after the grandmother of late Haridas Bhattacharya hailing from Bankura. Gobinda Chakraborty and Saroj Chakraborty were the teachers of this school since its inception. Chakraborty family was the dominant ruling zamindar of the village who used to hold sway in early days of the Raj, Kalidas, Debidas, Aghorenath,and Nakul Chandra Chakraborty were the elder members of the family, although next generations took to business and legal/medical professions consequent upon the dissolution of zamindary system.There are many Shiva temples widely scattered all around the village.
Transport
Road connectivity to Neamatpur is provided by the Grand Trunk Road. One can go to Kolkata, Durgapur, Asansol, Barakar and Dhanbad easily , travelling by the Grand Trunk Road. One can also go to Purulia via Dishergarh and to Chittaranjan through the State Highway to Purulia and the Chittaranjan Road respectively.
Regular Minibus services are available from Asansol, Barakar, Chittaranjan and Dishergarh. All the mini buses provide a stoppage at Neamatpur. Some Express and Long Distance Government Buses also provide a stoppage at Neamatpur. Inter-state superfast buses plying to Dhanbad, Bokaro Steel City, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Giridih and Madhupur also stop at Neamatpur. Direct Bus connectivity to Kolkata is provided by South Bengal State Transport Corporation buses plying from Barakar, Chittaranjan and Purulia, else one can easily go to Asansol and avail bus services.
The nearest Railway Station is the Sitarampur Junction. The Howrah-Delhi rail track separates into the Main and Grand Chord lines at Sitarampur and rejoins at Mughalsarai. Hence many important trains on the Howrah - Delhi passes through and have stoppages at Sitarampur.
Media & Public Utility Services
The town of Neamatpur is served by the Sitarampur Post Office, which is one of the Oldest in Asansol subdivision. There is also one small Post Office at G.T.Road.
Medical facilities are provided in the town mainly by a Health Centre run by the Indian Railways. There are a few small private operated Nursing Homes in Neamatpur. For availing better Medical Facilities, one has to go to Asansol.
The town has Banking Services with branches of nationalized banks such as State Bank of India , Bank of India and The Burdwan Central Co-operative Bank. The SBI also provides ATM facility to its customers. There is also an ATM counter of Axis Bank and HDFC Bank along the G T Road in the Neamatpur market Area.
Telephone Services are also available . Landline telephone services are provided mainly by BSNL. Mobile phone services are provided by BSNL, Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel, Reliance Communications, Tata Indicom and MTS.
Idea , Tata Docomo and Uninor have also started their cellular services in recent times .
Bengali language newspapers like Anandabazar Patrika, Bartaman, Sangbad Pratidin and Aajkaal and English language newspapers like The Times of India, Hindustan Times, The Statesman, The Telegraph and Asian Age are available. Some Hindi language newspapers like Dainik Jagran, Prabhat Khabar and Sanmarg also available.
Internet facilities are also available and provided mainly through BSNL broadband services. People also use the dial-up internet connections provided by BSNL and by the private operators such as Airtel , Reliance Communications , Aircel and Tata Indicom.
People in the town receive two private FM radio stations: Big FM 92.7 and Red FM 93.5 which are broadcast from Asansol. All India Radio is also available. Cable TV is popular among the people of Neamatpur and the adjacentSitarampur and operated by the local operators. DTH (Direct To Home) of all major companies are available. hmm
