Approval and affiliation
The college has received approval from the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal as a center of higher education and approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India. It is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology. three branch EE,CSE and ECE got NBA acceredation in 2008.ME and other brances will get NBA acceredation soon.
Collaborations with other organisations
The institute has entered into an agreement with the Director of Satellite Communications Programs Office, Government of India under the aegis of the Indian Space Research Organization to participate in educational programs at which academicians and scientists from the United States and India deliver knowledge.
The institute is one of the 50 colleges that has been selected by the Government of India, to participate alongside centers like the IIT/ITSc, Bangalore and the installation of a network link by the Department of Science and Technology has been established.
The Central Library, named after the physicist Dr. Meghnad Saha, offers over 18,000 books, journals and periodicals for students and faculty to use. This library is a three-storied building, with reading rooms. It has a computerized study center for 70 students with DELNET and Internet connectivity.
Quality bench-marks
The college is a member of the Quality Circle Forum of India-Durgapur Chapter.
It has applied to the AICTE - National Board of Accreditation for quality assurance and certification. AICTE-NBA certification is considered as a quality bench-mark in India and abroad. The college is one of the fifty colleges, nation-wide, to be selected in the "Indo-US Edusat" program and stands out as the only College in the State to be considered by the Department of Science and Technology and ISRO to partner in the EDUSAT programme.
Accommodation
BCREC, being open to residents and day-scholars, has halls of residence for male and female students located within the Campus. Each hostel has a, common room, outdoor and indoor recreation, medical services, guest room for guardians etc.
Student facilities
There is a calendar of cultural, entertainment and recreational programs and events including sporting activities,a high speed internet connection and attending specialty lectures and symposia etc.
Seminars and special programs
- Talks by experts, seminars and group discussions are arranged
- Developmental programs like workshops, quiz contests, exhibitions, excursions, visit to industries and programs to enhance social, spiritual and environmental awareness of students are arranged
- Student-participants from engineering disciplines of the College attended a workshop on entrepreneurship in IT sectors and computer hardware technology at National Institute of Technology

- Horizon the state level tech fest just before Zeal organized by the 4th Year students
- Annual Sports meet at the College Sports Campus
- Prof. (Dr.) Atal Chowdhury of the Department of Computer Science Engineering, Jadavpur University conducted a Seminar on "Fractals", and Prof. (Dr.) Bhadra Chowdhury, Principal of the College of Ceramic Technology delivered a lecture on "Mobile Computing Technology".
