Etymology
Named from its association with the Crew family, mentioned in local records of the mid-18th century.[1]
Transport
The area has limited bus service (route W10), although this route is currently not running north of Rosewood Drive to Crews Hill Station due to 'access difficulties'.
Crews Hill is served by Crews Hill railway station with trains to Hertford North, Stevenage, and occasionally Letchworth, in the north and Moorgate or King's Cross to the south.
Places of interest
Nearby there is Crews Hill Golf Course, which dates from 1916. John White, the Tottenham Hotspur and Scotland national football team player, was killed by lightning while sheltering under a tree at the golf course on 21 July 1964.
On Whitewebbs Lane there is the Whitewebbs Museum of Transport. This is open from 9am - 4pm every Tuesday as well as the last Sunday of every month. There are exceptions to this. It hosts a variety of events. For a list see their website.
Further up the road is Whitewebbs Park. This is a country park and also hold the Enfield Municipal Golf Course. Please note that some of these places are not easily reached by public transport, especially Whitewebbs Park, although car parking is provided.
Crews Hill also has a significant number of garden centres and nurseries which are open to the public and trade.
Turkey Brook flows through Crews Hill.
