DHS is a WASC accredited, 3-year, public comprehensive high school covering grades 10-12. The campus opened its current location in 1961. Enrollment for school year 2004-2005 was 1,831 students. The school's mascot is the Blue Devil.

- Davis High offers 20 Advanced Placement Program courses, with 80.5% of testtakers earning a passing grade of 3 or above in 2004.

Athletics
Davis High School is a member of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section's Delta Valley Conference. The school has had more team championships (91) than any other in the section.[1] in girls' soccer (other than St. Francis who has more titles in girl's soccer), boys' tennis, girls' track and field and boys and girls Cross Country. 42 section titles have been awarded in aquatic sports. Only one has been awarded in football.
In the 2008-2009 school year, Davis Cross Country team won seven section championships in both boys' and girls'. In the 2008 season, Boys' Sophomore team had their best, and Davis cross country's best appearance in Section Championship.[2]
DHS has some of the top athletic facilities in the region, with a notable exception outdoor facilities (Halden Field).[2]
Davis High's principal athletic rivals are Woodland High School, Elk Grove High School and Jesuit High School.
Events
- On May 4, 1983, Vietnamese-American student Thong Hy Huynh was stabbed to death by a white student on campus after Huynh was taunted by a group of white students.[3]

- Carol Greider - winner of Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine (2009), Class of 1979.
- Nate Boyden - professional soccer player.
- Denise Curry - all-time leading scorer and rebounder in basketball at UCLA, gold medalist at the 1984 Summer Olympics, played nine years professionally and was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame
