Background

The official title was announced on 2 November 2010, as was the release date of 8 February 2011.[15] Cut Copy revealed through Spin that Zonoscope would feature cover art of New York City engulfed in a waterfall, created by the late Japanese photomontage artist Tsunehisa Kimura.[16]

The first single, "Take Me Over", was released on 23 November 2010. In an interview with The Music Network, guitarist Tim Hoey described it as "certainly one of the more pop moments on the album".[16] The song's video was directed by Kris Moyes. "Need You Now" was released as the second single on 15 April 2011.

Critical reception

Zonoscope received positive reviews from most music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 71, based on 31 reviews, which indicates "generally favorable reviews".[2]
