DPT Laboratories, Ltd. is a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) specializing in sterile and non-sterile semi-solid and liquid dosage forms.

DPT Labs’ pharmaceutical development services include pre-formulation and formulation, analytical method development and validation, stability studies, process development and clinical trial materials. Manufacturing services include pilot and clinical trial material and commercial-scale manufacturing.

History

DPT[1] was founded in 1938 as Texas Pharmacal Company and was renamed Dermatological Products of Texas in 1980. DFB Pharmaceuticals acquired Dermatological Products of Texas in 1990 and renamed it DPT Laboratories, Ltd.

  • 1979: Acquired by Alcon. Contract manufacturing begins at San Antonio site. Alcon changes the name to Dermatological Products of Texas.
  • 1990: Acquired by DFB Pharmaceuticals
  • 2001: Lakewood, NJ site acquired from West Pharmaceutical Services
  • 2006: 40,000 sq ft (3,700 m2) Center of Excellence for Research & Development opens
  • 2010: DPT launches expanded sterile capabilities and adds development, testing, and manufacturing capabilities for pMDIs

DPT has cGMP facilities[2] in San Antonio, TX and Lakewood, N.J. which provide pharmaceutical development and manufacturing services for regulated products in semi-solid[3] and liquid dosage forms.

Center of Excellence for Research & Development

Formulation capabilities of the Center of Excellence for Research & Development in San Antonio, TX include aerosols, creams, emulsions, extrusions, gels, lotions, ointments, solutions and suspensions for nasal, ophthalmic, oral, parenteral, pulmonary and topical routes of administration.[4]

Center of Excellence for Semi-solids & Liquids

The Center of Excellence for Semi-solids & Liquids in San Antonio, TX encompasses 3 cGMP (current good manufacturing practice) facilities with manufacturing, quality control and micro lab infrastructure.[5]

Center of Excellence for Sterile & Specialty Products

The Center of Excellence for Sterile & Specialty Products in Lakewood, NJ contains a microbiology lab and aseptic manufacturing and support facilities for sterile dosage forms.[6]

Dosage Forms

DPT provides formulation services for aerosols, creams, extrusions, foams, gels, lotions, ointments, solutions, suspensions and sprays in nasal[7], oral, otic, parenteral and topical dosage forms.
