It consists of Contai municipality and eight community development blocks: Kanthi–I, Kanthi–II, Kanthi–III, Khejuri–I, Khejuri–II, Ramnagar–I and Ramnagar–II, Bhagwanpur–II. The eight blocks contain 61 gram panchayats. The subdivision has its headquarters at Contai. The Official website of Sub Division is http://www.contai.org

Area
Apart from the Contai municipality, the subdivision contains rural areas of 61 gram panchayats under eight community development blocks: Kanthi–I, Kanthi–II, Kanthi–III, Khejuri–I, Khejuri–II, Ramnagar–I and Ramnagar–II and Bhagwanpur–II.[1] There is no urban area under these eight blocks.[2]

Contai–I block
Rural area under Contai–I block, which is also known as Kanthi–I block, consists of eight gram panchayats, viz. Badalpur, Mahisagot, Raipur–Paschimbarh, Dulalpur, Majilapur, Sabajput, Haipur and Nayaput.[1] Contai police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Kanthi.[4]
Contai–II block
Rural area under Contai–II block, which is also known as Kanthi–II block or Deshapran block, consists of eight gram panchayats, viz. Amtalia, Bamuria, Chalti, Dhobaberia, Aurai, Basantia, Dariyapur and Sarda.[1] Contai police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Kanthi.[4]
Contai–III block
Rural area under Contai–III block, which is also known as Kanthi–III block,[5] consists of eight gram panchayats, viz. Brajachauli, Durmuth, Kumirda, Lauda, Debendra, Kanaidighi, Kusumpur and Marishda.[1] Contai police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Marisida.[4]
Khejuri–I block
Rural area under Khejuri–I block consists of six gram panchayats, viz. Beerbandar, Kalagechia, Lakshmi, Henria, Kamarda and Tikashi.[1] Khejuri police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Kamarda.[4]
Khejuri–II block
Rural area under Khejuri–II block consists of five gram panchayats, viz. Bartala, Janka, Niz Kasba, Haludbari and Khejuri.[1] Khejuri police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Janka.[4]
Ramnagar–I block
Rural area under Ramnagar–I block consists of nine gram panchayats, viz. Badhia, Haldia–I, Padima–II, Basantapur, Haldia–II, Talgachhari–I, Gobra, Padima–I and Talgachhari–II.[1] Digha and Ramnagar police stations serve this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Ramnagar.[4]
Ramnagar–II block
Rural area under Ramnagar–II block consists of eight gram panchayats, viz. Badalpur, Depal, Kalindi, Paldui, Balisai, Kadua, Maithana and Satilapur.[1] Ramnagar police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Balisai.[4]
Legislative segments
As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in West Bengal:[6]
- The area under the Kanthi municipality, the Kanthi–I block, and the gram panchayats of Durmuth and Kusumpur under the Kanthi–III block will together form the Kanthi Dakshin assembly constituency of West Bengal.
- The other six gram panchayats under the Kanthi–III block — Brajachauli, Kumirda, Lauda, Debendra, Kanaidighi and Marishda — will be part of the Kanthi Uttar assembly constituency along with the area under the Kanthi–II block.
- The Ramnagar–I block and the Ramnagar–II block will together define the area under the Ramnagar assembly constituency.
- The Khejuri–I block and the Khejuri–II block will be part of the area defining the Khejuri assembly constituency.
- The Khejuri constituency will be reserved for Scheduled castes (SC) candidates.
- All the four constituencies will be assembly segments of the Kanthi (Lok Sabha constituency).
