The China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) (Chinese: 中国建筑工程总公司) is the largest construction company and the largest international general contractor in the People's Republic of China.

History

The CSCEC in 1982 as a state company. In 2002, CSCEC, international trade journal Engineering News-Record (ENR) ranked 16 of the world's largest international general contractor, and ranked 10 of China's largest companies by revenue or 12th rank in companies assets. The company with assets as of June amounted to 74.1 billion RMB in 2002, far ahead of the next largest construction companies in China. The total turnover of CSCEC since its inception was then estimated at 434.7 billion RMB, of which 30% abroad. 2006, the consolidated annual turnover at 117 billion RMB (equivalent to 11.2 billion euros or 18.6 billion Swiss francs).

Business

Main business units of the group are planning and design, project development, equipment leasing, trade, construction and facilities management.

More than 66 construction projects carried out by CSCEC received the Lu Ban Award, the highest award in Chinese construction. Already prices of the 27 National Scientific and Technology Advancement Award (for national scientific and technical progress) has won CSCEC, including three 1st Price.

The CSCEC has built numerous branches or subsidiaries. It is divided into five main divisions and twelve traditional core business areas, including eight Group's engineering offices and four Design Institutes, as well as its own national research laboratory. At the end of 2002, the CSCEC 122,500 employees, of which 62,300 technical and administrative staff and 500 graduates of the China Engineering Academy. President of the company is Sun Wenjie.

Its subsidiary and listed company, China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited (Chinese: 中国建筑股份有限公司) (SSE: 601668), was established in 2007. It was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2009 with its IPO price at RMB$4.18 per share. The shares closed at RMB$6.53, 56% higher than its IPO price, at the first trading day. It was the world's biggest IPO in 2009, raising the capital of US$7.3 billion.[1][2]
