Biography
Robinson is the MI6 Chief of Staff[1]. He symbolizes the opening of the MI6 to other ethnic groups[2]. He often appears alongside M[3] when James Bond is being briefed or given information. Robinson fills a similar role to that of Bill Tanner[4] and in fact was introduced in Tomorrow Never Dies as a replacement for the Tanner character[5], though Tanner and Robinson subsequently appeared together in The World Is Not Enough.
In the pre-title sequence of Tomorrow Never Dies, Robinson gives orders to Bond from a communications centre while Bond is undertaking a mission on the Russian border. He is seen again in the meeting between M and Admiral Roebuck talking about the sinking of HMS Devonshire; later Robinson assists M in briefing Bond in the car scene.
In the events of The World Is Not Enough, Robinson accompanies M when she demands to be taken to Turkey[6] following Elektra King's request for her to be there—M failing to realise that she is walking into a trap[7].
Robinson is not given a big role in Die Another Day[8] but is seen near the beginning of the film when Bond is traded for Zao. He is also seen in a virtual reality simulation in which he helps Bond to save M when the SIS Building is infiltrated[9]; Robinson is shot and injured in the simulation[10]. He is seen later in the film, in the briefing between Bond and Jinx.
