Countess Lisl von Schlaf Character from the James Bond franchise Affiliation Milos Columbo Portrayed by Cassandra Harris Countess Lisl von Schlaf is a fictional character from the 1981 James Bond film For Your Eyes Only, portrayed by Cassandra Harris, coincidentally the late wife of later Bond star Pierce Brosnan.
The Countess is the 'Luxus Whore' from 'Risico' and mistress of Milos Columbo, the Greek smuggler. At the casino, Lisl "dumps" Columbo, giving Bond an opportunity to meet her. The Contessa invites Bond to share champagne and oysters with her back at her house in a taxi driven by Apostis, an employee of Aris Kristatos.
She portrays herself as being Austrian, but while talking to Bond at her house her accent slips and she reveals that she is from Liverpool, England.
However, as they walk along a beach the following morning, Aristotle Kristatos's henchman Emile Locque appears on a beach buggy. James and Lisl flee Locque's accomplice and James manages to disable him, but when Locque goes for Lisl she cannot escape and James screams her name but it's too late and he runs her over. By the time James gets to her, she is already dead. Bond was then captured by men working for Milos Columbo, and it was only when meeting Columbo did Bond realise that Lisl's killer was not employed by him but by Kristatos. It is obvious that Apostis directed Locque and his accomplice to Bond on Kristatos's orders.
Bond later avenges Lisl by pushing Locque and his car off a jagged cliff into the sharp rocks below after Locque unsuccessfully tries to escape from a clash with drug smugglers working for Columbo.
Columbo seemed not to care too much about Lisl when he learned of her death, although he described her saying, "I would laugh if my heart were not so heavy about my poor Lisl."[1]
