National Monuments of Singapore are buildings and structures in Singapore that have been designated by the Preservation of Monuments Board (or PMB) as being of special historic, traditional, archaeological, architectural or artistic value.
The PMB is a statutory board within the Government of Singapore, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts, and it has so far gazetted 63 buildings and structures as National Monuments.

Preservation of Monuments Act
Under section 9 of the Preservation of Monuments Act,[1] buildings gazetted as National Monuments cannot be "demolished, removed, altered or renovated or have any addition made" without the prior written permission of the PMB, "except in case of urgent and immediate necessity for the safety of persons or property." The penalty for breaking this law is a fine of up to S$1,000.
