Sandalfoot Cove is a census-designated place (CDP) located in an unincorporated area near Boca Raton in Palm Beach County, Florida. The population was 16,582 at the 2000 census. Although not officially within the city limits, it has a Boca Raton address.

Geography

Sandalfoot Cove is located at coor dms|26|20|20|N|80|11|7|W|city (26.338873, -80.185315)GR|1, or about five miles southwest of Boca Raton.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.7 km² (3.0 mi²), all land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 16,582 people, 6,895 households, and 4,592 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,155.7/km² (5,587.0/mi²). There were 7,743 housing units at an average density of 1,006.6/km² (2,608.9/mi²). Hispanic or Latino of any race were 14.46% of the population.

There were 6,895 households out of which 30.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.8% were married couples living together, 11.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.4% were non-families. 25.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.91.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 22.3% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 19.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 90.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.8 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $44,243, and the median income for a family was $49,871. Males had a median income of $39,774 versus $29,920 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $23,232. About 3.3% of families and 5.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.4% of those under age 18 and 3.3% of those age 65 or over.

As of 2000, English was the first language for 76.91% of all residents, while Spanish accounted for 14.88%, Portuguese consisted of 3.18%, Italian made up 1.72%, Yiddish was totaled at 0.66%, Vietnamese totaled 0.56%, both French and German were at 0.46%, French Creole was at 0.43%, Arabic at 0.39%, and Hebrew was the mother tongue for 0.29% of the population.
