History
The station was originally built in Nassau (then Queens) County in December 1875 in Woodbury as "Woodbury Station," then renamed "Cold Spring Harbor Station" on October 15, 1880, despite the fact that Cold Spring Harbor is actually across the Suffolk County Line. Sometime between 1901 and 1902 it was actually moved east to Cold Spring Harbor. The station was razed then rebuilt in 1948.[3] In recent years, the station has served as the western terminus of New York State Bicycle Route 25A.
Platform and track configuration
This station has two high-level side platforms. The north platform, Platform A, adjacent to Track 1, is 12 cars long and is generally used by westbound or New York City-bound trains. The south platform, Platform B, adjacent to Track 2, is eight cars long and is generally used by eastbound trains. The Port Jefferson Branch has two tracks at this location.
