Unsigned state highwaysThe Mississippi Department of Transportation maintains a system of unsigned state highways in addition to the main state highway network.
These highways are legislatively numbered between 701 and 994, and run mostly along main streets and major roads through the state's towns and cities. The 700's run through the northern part of Mississippi, the 800's run through the central part, and the 900's run through the southern part. These roads are generally not arranged in any pattern because they are so short (many run less than a mile).
Note that some of the highways listed below may be signed (usually sporadically), but are considered to be part of the same system of reference routes.

Northern Mississippi (701-795)

- MS 702 - spur from MS 7 to Michigan City
- MS 703 - short route in Byhalia
- MS 704 - spur from MS 7 to Lamar
- MS 705 - loop from MS 178 in Hickory Flat
- MS 706 - signed, spur from U.S. 49E to Sidon
- MS 713 - signed, from US 61 near Robinsonville to MS 304 in southwestern DeSoto County; partial overlap with I-69
- MS 740 - signed, runs from US 51 to I-55 in southern Senatobia (portion of future MS 4 bypass of Senatobia)
- MS 745 - a.k.a. Depot Ave., loop from MS 182 in Kilmichael
- MS 760 - runs from MS 25 to MS 366 in Golden
- MS 763 - signed, a.k.a. Maben-Starkville Rd., connects MS 15 in downtown Maben to US 82
- MS 789 - signed, connects US 45 to the Golden Triangle Industrial Park in Lowndes County
- MS 790 - signed, a.k.a. Y Road, connects MS 15 to MS 9 near the Red Hills Mine and Power Plant in Choctaw County
- MS 791 - signed, connects US 82 to the Golden Triangle Industrial Park and Golden Triangle Regional Airport in Lowndes County
